Melissa Wetzel joined Cunningham Bounds in 2015, after practicing commercial law and bankruptcy in Alabama and Florida for many years. She currently works with the firm’s Gulf Coast oil spill clients, helping them receive compensation for economic losses and property damage they suffered as a result of the Deepwater Horizon explosion and oil spill. She is admitted to practice in both Alabama and Florida.
Upon graduation from Springhill College with a degree in Political Science, Melissa became certified as a legal assistant and worked as a paralegal before attending law school at The University of Alabama. Her practice has primarily focused on Bankruptcy and Commercial Law. Over the years, she has served as Chair and Co-Chair of the Mobile Bar Association, Bankruptcy Section; served as Secretary & Newspaper Editor for the Alabama State Bar, Commercial and Bankruptcy Law Section; served as Treasurer, Vice Chair and Chair for the Alabama State Bar, Commercial and Bankruptcy Law Section; and served as both a Member and Chair on various local bankruptcy committees.
When not working at Cunningham Bounds, Melissa enjoys watching her daughter dance, spending time with family, and watching college football.
