CUNNINGHAM BOUNDS WINS AT 2012 COOK-OFF
Under the threat of tornado watches and flood warnings, the Cunningham Bounds Chili Cook-Off Team headed to Bienville Square well before dawn on Saturday, March 3rd to participate in the American Cancer Society’s signature fundraiser.
Weeks before the event, team members were busy planning. The team’s theme was “Circle of Life – Ribbons of Hope.” Not only did Cunningham Bounds staffers serve up gallons of delicious chili between rain showers, they also provided an opportunity for everyone attending to remember and honor friends or family who have experienced cancer.
The team’s tenacity and hard work were apparent with the team receiving an impressive award at the end of the day – the American Cancer Society’s Bruce Reynolds Spirit of Chili Award.
According to Heather Tomberlin of the American Cancer Society, the Spirit of Chili Award is very special to the Cancer Society staff and volunteers. Bruce Reynolds was one of the founders of the Chili Cook-Off and the Cancer Society named this award in his honor. This special award is given to the team who best demonstrates the emotion and excitement of raising money for the fight against cancer. It honors the team who best demonstrates the spirit and strength it takes to fight cancer every day of the year, not just at Chili Cook-Off.
Congratulations to the 2012 Cunningham Bounds Chili Cook-Off team members for their efforts to support the American Cancer Society and the fight against cancer!
