CUNNINGHAM BOUNDS’ ATTORNEYS MENTOR LOCAL CHILDREN
The attorneys of Cunningham Bounds have been busy volunteering their time to help children in both Mobile and Baldwin counties.
Dave Wirtes volunteered to help teach Fairhope High School students in Ms. Julie Lazzari’s law class. The students ranged in age from sophomores to seniors. At the end of the semester, they had the opportunity to participate in mock trials at the Fairhope Satellite Courthouse. During the mock trials, the students functioned as attorneys, defendants, plaintiffs and witnesses in order to learn first-hand about the legal process. Mr. Wirtes served as the judge. He coached the students on their presentations, arguments and on general courtroom protocol.
Allison White and Laura Edwards volunteered to participate in the YMCA’s Big Brothers/Big Sisters program for the 2011-2012 school year. Both were assigned “little sisters” who were 4th graders at Florence Howard Elementary School. Meeting once a week, the big and little sisters got-to-know each other better while playing games, doing arts and crafts, reading together and other activities.
