Danny Potter says he's gotten no relief from GCCF

BAYOU LA BATRE, Alabama - Danny Potter says the last payment he got from the Gulf Coast Claims Facility was for less than ten cents on the dollar of what he claimed he lost during the oil spill. Now he's set for the next stage of the claims game--a lawsuit.

Potter says he will join the Multi-District Litigation or MDL in New Orleans. That's where all of the oil spill lawsuits have been consolidated. People who have current, or may have future claims are urged to file a short form with the court before an April 20 deadline. That date, the anniversary of the explosion of the Deepwater Horizon oil rig, was set by U.S. District Judge Charles Barbier.

Steve Olen, an attorney for Cunningham Bounds in Mobile says they are urging all clients, and anyone else who may think they have or will have a claim to file with the court. "You never know what's going to happen in the future," says Olen.

Olen also says filing with the court will not impact filing or processing of claims with the GCCF.
