SETTLEMENT REACHED FOR DEADLY TRAFFIC HAZARD IN INDUSTRIAL TRUCKING CASE
McAdams v. Steel City Crane | Mobile, Alabama, Circuit Court | 02-CV-2012-902514.00
In this industrial trucking case the plaintiff’s mother, Lilly Frazier, was killed on the Dolly Parton Bridge, I-65 southbound, when the vehicle in which she was riding as a passenger struck the defendant’s truck-mounted crane. Steel City’s driver had recklessly stopped in the southbound outside lane of travel, causing a deadly traffic hazard. The defendant’s driver was also in violation of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations in that he had operated the vehicle well in excess of the safe hours of operation. The case was set for trial on May 11, 2015, but the parties reached a compromise settlement shortly before trial for a confidential amount.
