On March 28, 2026, the 10th Annual Downtown Cajun Cook-Off returned to Cathedral Square in Mobile, Alabama, and Cunningham Bounds was proud to once again act as its title sponsor. This community event is a fundraiser for the Child Advocacy Center of Mobile, Alabama, providing financial support to the Center. We want to thank everyone who helped make the Cook-Off such a hit this year, including local restaurateur Noell Broughton and the culinary arts students at Davidson High School, who teamed up to be part of the Cunningham Bounds team in the cooking competition.
The work of the Child Advocacy Center is so important that it can’t be overstated. The professionals there provide specialized services and counseling opportunities to children who have suffered from child abuse. Family members can also participate in educational and training programs to help them identify and react to warning signs of child abuse, so they will be better equipped to prevent it from ever happening again.
In the words of the Child Advocacy Center itself: “Our goal is to provide a wide range of services in one central location to sexually abused and/or severely physically abused children and their non-offending family members so that they may begin their healing process, and to provide education and training in order to increase the public awareness of child abuse which will aid in the prevention of child abuse.”
Since opening its doors in 1988, the Child Advocacy Center has helped countless children heal from traumatic abuse. And it has done so while operating as a non-profit the entire time. To keep the lights on, it needs support from its community, such as from annual events like the Downtown Cajun Cook-Off.
At Cunningham Bounds, we are constant advocates for events that helps our communities come together, especially for something as important as the welfare of children. That’s why we have repeatedly acted as the title sponsor of the Downtown Cajun Cook-Off. Every year since its inception, we excitedly anticipate seeing just how much money the Cook-Off raised for the Child Advocacy Center, and we’re always trying to find ways to bring in more people so each year brings in more than the last.
Just as we wanted to thank the people who made the Downtown Cajun Cook-Off a success this year, we must also thank the great people of the Child Advocacy Center. You do incredible work to protect and heal children, and you deserve all the gratitude in the world. Thank you, and we look forward to future fundraising efforts to benefit your important organization.
