Ex parte Courtyard Citiflats, LLC, [Ms. 1140264, June 12, 2015] __ So. 3d __ (Ala. 2015). An affidavit of
substantial hardship must be approved by the court before it can take
the place of payment of a filing fee and thereby bring the filing of the
complaint within the period of limitations. In this case, the plaintiff
filed her complaint and her affidavit of substantial hardship before the
period of limitations ran, but the affidavit was not approved by the court
until afterwards. The Supreme Court grants mandamus, ordering that the
complaint be dismissed
