Cunningham Bounds Chief Operating Officer Geoffrey M. Williams, CLM, MBA, M.Div., becomes International President of the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA) for the 2023-2024 Board of Directors

Cunningham Bounds is pleased to announce that its Chief Operating Officer, Geoffrey M. Williams, CLM, MBA, M.Div. recently took office as International President of the Association of Legal Administrators and its Board of Directors for the 2023-2024 term.

ALA is the preeminent professional association connecting leaders and managers to lead the business of law by providing extensive professional development, collaborative peer communities, strategic operational solutions, and business partner connections.

“Serving as president of ALA is an awesome responsibility. Geoffrey is entrusted with making critical decisions that have a profound impact on the ALA. Guiding the organization’s strategic direction, ensuring necessary policies are being developed and followed, promoting ALA’s programs and services, and representing the organization to various audiences are just some of the demands of the role. Geoffrey executes them with grace, humility, and kindness that are the leadership qualities that help ALA continue to grow and succeed,” said Eryn Carter, CAE, Executive Director.

When describing ALA, Williams says, “Much like our law firm, ALA’s mission is to reach the highest levels of performance. We strive to provide opportunities for our 9,000 plus members across the globe to be the most skilled and best prepared legal management professionals in the world.”

Williams has an extensive background in strategic management, financial management, and legal operations. Since 2009, he has served as the COO and CFO of Cunningham Bounds, one of the nation’s leading trial and litigation firms, and has been in the legal management profession since 2000. He is one of only 400 Certified Legal Managers (CLM) worldwide and earned the graduate certificate in law firm management from The George Washington University. He earned his MBA from Louisiana State University, Shreveport, his M.Div. from Princeton Seminary, and his BA from Huntingdon College. He has served on a number of professional boards and in leadership roles with several organizations including the Advisory Board of the Better Business Bureau of Central and South Alabama, and as a board member and Compliance Chair for the Better Business Bureau of South Alabama.

When he is not managing Cunningham Bounds, he enjoys consulting for businesses and leading strategic retreats. He has led many educational sessions and delivered keynote presentations for several professional organizations.
